Highlights of the Scheme

  • It is an effort to take forward the Prime Minister’s vision of Digital India, ‘Make in India’ and ‘Teach in India’.
  • A convergent framework across School Education and Higher Education.
  • Efforts made by INTEL for nurturing scientific temper among girl students.
  • Google India’s initiative of Code to Learn Contest which will enable students to learn in the Google campus .
  • RAA would be renamed after him, and thereby known as APJ Abdul Kalam Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan.

How it is implemented ?

  • Government schools will be mentored by Institutes like IITs/ IIMs/ IISERs and other Central Universities and reputed organisations through innovative programmes, student exchanges, demonstrations, student visits, etc to develop a natural sense of passion towards learning of Science and Maths.
  • To institutionalize major schemes of the Abhiyan, like school mentoring by premier higher education institutions,promotion of teacher circles, promoting Student Science Clubs, Resource Material Development, Advocacy and Monitoring.
  • Strengthening of school Science and Mathematics laboratories, through the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA)
  • Important interventions i.e. Science Fair/Exhibition and Talent Search at district level; mathematics and science kits to schools, visit to higher institutions of students and learning enhancement of students have been approved.
  • NITI Aayog under the Atal Innovation Mission is establishing Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) in schools across India. 
  • Working Framework:
    • National Steering Committee (NSC)
    • At the national level, there will be a National Steering Committee.
    • It will be co-chaired by Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy and Secretary, Department of Higher Education.
